“How Successful Sisters Treat Other Women”

Ladies as we move into WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH in a few weeks Women’s History Month I have been doing a lot of reading and came across this great article By Sophia A. Nelson a regular contributor to Essence I had to share just a few nuggets from this article:

“1. Successful women like themselves first and foremost. They have a healthy self-image, and self-esteem. They are confident, not cocky. They are able, not arrogant. They know that loving self first as a woman is critical to loving other women.” This one is so on point. When you love and respect yourself you set the tone for others to follow.

“2. Successful women are humble. Don’t miss this. They surround themselves with TRUTH TELLERS, NOT yes men or women. These women surround themselves with people who can advise, guide, pray with, chastise, rebuke, and hold them accountable when they go off course. They welcome truth because they know truth leads to transformation and transformation leads to greatness”. As iron sharpens iron, so one man/woman sharpens another.~ Bible

“5. Successful women sponsor other women and help them achieve their dreams! They use their access, entry and cache to LIFT other women higher! These women honor the 11th commandment. This is something I pride myself on doing for women cross-generationally. I am a connector. I am not afraid to let another sister stand on my shoulders to reach her goals. I hope more of us move in this direction.”

My prayer is that more women will seek to work together and help to build each other, celebrate the success of each other and not tear each other down.

October is Women’s History Month…

“We want women leaders today as never before. Leaders who are not afraid to be called names and who are willing to go out and fight.” Fight for a cause, not each other.

In Quietness and Confidence is my strength. – Isaiah 30:15

As a woman our confident should not come in how we dress, our titles, body shape or how much money we have. Our confident should come from the Lord. Because of our relationships with the Lord, we can ALL walk boldly and confidently each day! I just finished reading a great book by Joyce Meyer’s call The Confident Woman, Start Today Living Boldly And Without Fear. If you have never read this book be sure and pick up a copy. It will empower, encourage and challenge you on many levels.

Check out some secrets from the book:

Secret 1- A confident woman knows that she is loved.

*She does not fear being loved because she knows first and foremost that God loves her unconditionally. To be whole and complete, we need to know that we are loved.

I encourage you to concentrate on those that love you and forget about those who don’t. There are women who feel so bad about themselves that they get involved with men who will hurt them, because they believe that is all they deserve. You need to be around safe people, not people who continue to wound you. God will help you learn to recognize those people if you listen to His wisdom.

I urge you to take a step of faith right now and say out loud, “God loves me unconditionally, and I receive His love!” You may have to say it 100 times a day, like I did for months, before it finally sinks in, but when it does it will be the happiest day of your life. Eph 1:4-5 and 1 John 4:18

Secret 2- A confident woman refuses to live in fear.

“I will not fear” is the only acceptable attitude we can have toward fear. That does not mean that we will never feel fear, but it does mean that we will not allow it to rule our decisions and actions. 2 Tim 2:7 and Hebrews 10:38

We should strive to do everything with a spirit of faith. Faith is confidence in God and a belief that His promises are true. When a person walks in faith, Satan immediately tries to hinder her through many things, including fear.

Faith will cause a person to go forward, to try new things and be aggressive. Fear causes people to bury their talents due to fear of failure, judgement or criticism.

I encourage you to be firm in your resolve to do whatever you need to do, even if you have to “do it afraid!” To “do it afraid” means to feel the fear and do what you believe you should do anyway. The only thing we really need to do is fear God, reverentially.

“It is not our abilities that God desires, but it is our availability He wants. He wants us to see possibilities, not problems. Don’t spend your life thinking, “if only,” you had something else, then you could do something worthwhile. “If only,” is a thief of what could be. “What if,” can be as devastating as “if only.” Negatively anticipating a future experience is potentially more devastating than actually experiencing the problem. Where the mind goes, the man follows. If you pay more attention to your thoughts and choose to think on things that will help you instead of hinder you, it will release God’s power to help you be the confident woman God wants you to be. Think confident and you will be confident!”

Happy International Women’s Day!

International Women’s Day is annually held on March 8 to celebrate women’s achievements throughout history and across nations. It is also known as the United Nations (UN) Day for Women’s Rights and International Peace.

We as women have been through a lot. We have come along way, much progress has been made to protect and promote women’s rights in recent times. However, nowhere in the world can women claim to have all the same rights and opportunities as men, according to the UN. The majority of the world’s 1.3 billion absolute poor are women. On average, women receive between 30 and 40 percent less pay than men earn for the same work. Women also continue to be victims of violence, rape and domestic violence still very high on the list as significant causes of disability and death among women worldwide” (according to the UN news).

On this day we celebrate every women that is seeking to make a change in her life, home, community, city and nation. Also a very special thank you to the men who continue to stand by our side with love, respect and honour.

This is Our Time! 100 years of Women in history.

This is also the day we launched our website for UR Woman an Image and Etiquette Consulting service that seeks to help women define their image in accordance with their unique personality, lifestyle and aspirations. Happy New Year!

Thank you all for a great year! I’m looking forward to journeying with you in 2012. I pray as we move into this new year…we move with purpose. Let us not live our lives like footprints in the sand, but let us seek to leave a mark in time that will echo in eternity♥

HaPPy NeW YeaR!
Be blessed by this song♥

What is life, if it doesn’t have meaning?
We’re just extras in a movie passing by

What is a man, if he doesn’t have purpose?
With nothing real to show for all his time

For as long as I’m breathing, I will use my voice to sing what’s in my heart
And with these hands, I rebuild what was broken
I will lift the ones who don’t have strength to stand

Father, use us for Your glory~ Revelation 22:12

Jury Duty: Our Civic Duty

Have you been called to serve on a jury? What was your experience like? Do you think the process makes us better citizens?

For the past 7 weeks I have served as a juror. It was an inconvenience, a lot of time away from work, and my family. I also felt a great sense of inadequacy for the task at hand. Passing judgment on another person, with serious life consequences riding on the decision, is not a simple thing. I feel honored, and very thankful to have served our justice system and truly proud to say we the jury did our due diligence in weighing both sides, having an open mind, thinking critically and looking at the evidence. I am a strong believer in confidentiality so I won’t go into details of the case, but I will say it has opened my eyes to crime and has giving me a new respect for our justice system.

Jury duty does disrupts the life of the average citizen, but reminds us that we have an integral part in the democratic process. I thank God for His wisdom, and for the experience. To my fellow jurors it was a pleasure meeting you all, while our debate got a little heated at times, we stayed true to the task. It has been a memorable experience one I will never forget.

What is Jury Duty:

A jury is composed of 12 jurors plus 2 alternates. It consists of citizens brought together to listen to evidence presented by both the prosecution and defense in the matter of a criminal proceeding. During the deliberation process at the end of the trial, the jurors sort out the facts and apply the law as given them by the court. The result of a trial jury’s deliberations is called a verdict: the determination that the defendant’s guilt has been proven beyond a reasonable doubt. If you have been chosen for duty and need more information visit the Canadian Jury Duty website or do a search for one in your area.
